With the economy being what it is, many people are looking to make a bit of extra cash to put in their pockets and to pay their bills with. One of the top ways of making money online is through affiliate marketing. I’ve been doing this myself for a number of years and want to share with you what is required to successfully make a good income through this method.
he global recession has impacted many industries, but the internet is still seeing a growth in online sales. Large volumes of money are still circulating on the web and many of this is being channeled through affiliate marketing.
So what is affiliate marketing exactly? For starters, it’s an agreement between a product owner and a salesperson. Every time a product is sold then a percentage of commission will be assigned to the salesperson otherwise known as the affiliate. This commission can come about either through a purchase or even from just introducing a person to a particular website. Some affiliate marketing commissions are earned from signing up an individual to a membership program with a monthly subscription. This means that every month, the affiliate will receive a percentage of commission from the subscription.
From the product owners point of view, affiliate marketing is a cost effective marketing method that can reach out to their target market. Quite often a product can be marketed on hundreds or even thousands of web sites.
Affiliates can earn anywhere from 75% and below in commission from a product’s sale price. If an affiliate works well and secures themselves plenty of internet ‘real estate’ in the form of relevant and search engine ranking websites and web pages there is plenty of opportunity for big income. Once the links have been set up, then the affiliate can even get to the point where they won’t need to take daily action and still reap the rewards from their earlier hard work.
Affiliate marketing does take commitment – as does any successful venture. Committing to be successful is essential to succeed. To get started, the affiliate would need to:
1) educate themselves about internet marketing techniques
2) learn about search engine behaviours
3) understand how to select keywords that will perform well in the search engines
4) research which products and subscriptions are selling well online
The best course of action to take is to look around for an affiliate marketing training package or alternatively an education package that will teach you all that you need to know about web marketing. It would need to contain information on:
a) how to select a niche to sell products for
b) how to select keywords
c) how to set up a website for traffic / web site visitors and sales
d) how to generate traffic for your site
