How is it that some people are so successful and others can be at a place where they don’t make much progress and are weighed down with feelings of negativity. At the root of many of these cases is the unpleasant ‘self-doubt’ syndrome. Doubting oneself can often lead to a downward spiral of inaction and feelings of negativity and dread. These can really come into the fore when one witnesses other people around them being successful.
At times, we’ve all been there, even the most positive and upbeat of us can have bad days when we don’t think we can do something. The challenge can overwhelm us and we would rather hibernate than to face up to it. Here are my tips to shake that off – affiliate marketing can be a challenge initially but by giving into the self-doubt it would be hard to make any income, and one would just give up and decide to get a regular job instead.
1) Education is the key. Whatever it is that you don’t know about – put the time in to fill the gaps with knowledge. Even internet marketing gurus don’t know everything. If the topic is large and stopping you from taking action, then break it down into smaller pieces and learn a unit at a time.
2) Don’t worry about what other people think. Yes, you are quite likely to come up against some comments from friends, family and loved ones. They won’t understand affiliate marketing and won’t be fans of it. Don’t let this put you off – keep on your own road to success. Once you’ve proven yourself with some results, then that will allow your loved ones to understand more. They may be worried that you are wasting your time without immediate results.
3) Commit to being successful. This is most probably the biggest deciding factor on whether you will be successful. Once you have decided to do this, you will find yourself being so much more driven than without doing it. It will be what is behind all the action that you will need to take on a day to day basis.
4) Take continual action. You need to be dogged here. It will not get you anywhere if you sit around, get distracted and don’t take persistent action. Adding links, writing articles, using social media. However you have decided to market your products, you will need to create a plan to attend to these. Assign time to your tasks every day and work consistently through your tasks.
5) Set realistic goals. Without realism, goals can sometimes be far too big and unreachable. Every journey needs to start with the first step – and this is true for affiliate marketing too. Set your goals in the same vein. Make them achievable and do-able. Adjust and expand your goals as you achieve them, so that there is challenge, but achievable challenge for you.
Being an entrepreneur is hard work. It takes a lot of spirit, zing and action to get ahead. Self-doubt will creep in, I have had my share of it. However, there are actions that you can take that will keep it at a minimum, otherwise it will affect your business, and could potentially even kill it. Keep taking action, and keep setting achievable goals. Before you know it, your profits would have sky-rocketed and you’ll be amazed at what you’ve achieved through affiliate marketing.
