Web Development

In a relatively short period of time social networking has changed the way the Internet is used around the world. We see this in countries such as Libya, Egypt, and many more.

Facebook is the largest social networking site in the world. Twitter is second and is used in a different way than Facebook.

Facebook is mainly a social networking site. It is used to maintain contact with old friends. It is also a fantastic way to mee new friends.

What about as a business tool?

Facebook has over 500 million members now after just 7 years. Over half of them log into their account everyday. This means that if you have an Internet business there are millions of eyeballs you can get in front of everyday.

The key is to find them and get in front of a targeted group. Because groups are formed based on common interests this is not hard to do. You need to find the right group and join it.

You can use your profile as a passive way to advertise your products. Your wall is another place to post updates on what you sell.

Do you think viral?

Viral marketing is free advertising. Every Internet business dreams of something they do going viral and reaching millions of people with no effort on their part.

A You Tube video is a good example of this. We have all seen a video that catches on and spread across the world like a wild fire.

Viral marketing is great with Facebook. If someone like something they can mark it so their friends can hear about it. This does not cost you anything and can be a wonderful way to drive traffic to your website or blog.

You should have a blog you maintain a consistent basis. Posting new articles is a must. Creating videos and posting them is something you should be doing too. Article Video Robot is a good way to turn an article you write into a video you can easily add to your blog.

Be sure and bookmark every blog post using Only Wire which is a bookmarking service. Social Marker is another one.

This gets an update out to various social directories. This list includes Facebook and Twitter. It also includes popular social sites like Stumbleupon and Technorati. Search engines spider these sites all of the time so every blog post gets Google, Yahoo, Bing, and more, coming to your blog on a regular basis.

Social media such as blogs and videos are here to stay. So are social networking sites. Facebook is only going to grow and learning how to use it to grow your Internet business will play a key role in the survival of your business in the future.
