Most successful bloggers make money by selling their own products from their blog. Blogging can be a means of advertising by writing useful information to current and potential customers. Bloggers will often use product advertising in their actual blog postings or sidebars with banner ads. Products can vary from crazy shoelaces to wedding invitations.

If you have been thinking about starting a blog or maybe you have a blog on which you don’t have your own products to sell, you can actually sell products that aren’t yours. Affiliate programs are the hottest way to earn money through a blog and there are many affiliate programs where you can earn a percentage of the sale or lead. There are affiliate programs with commissions that range in the low end of 3% – 10% to a fantastic 50% of the profit.

The key to finding a good affiliate program that will tie in well with your blog is to do a search. Go onto Google and type in the words “affiliate program” along with your niche topic. For example, if you blog about birdhouses, search on “birdhouses affiliate programs”. It’s exciting to find new ways to monetize your blog and you will find many affiliate program links to decide on.

There are many small businesses that run their own affiliate programs independently which you can find online. There are those that run their affiliate programs through major affiliate programs like Commission Junction and Share A Sale. These affiliate programs are great if you get approved for they run affiliate programs for multiple merchants. It will definitely be hard to choose if you go with the larger affiliate programs for they always have new merchants signing up which will give you even more affiliate products to choose from.

If you run a daily blog focused on general life, Amazon is a popular affiliate program used by many bloggers. Amazon offers commissions for anything sold from your affiliate link. This could be anything from books, electronic gadgets, gourmet teas and more. They have a wide selection on what types of affiliate links to use on your blog to create a non-commercial feel. Amazon now offers affiliates a great way to set up your own page with a shopping cart based on your own niche.

Another popular affiliate program for bloggers is Ebay believe it or not. If you run a product blog where you write reviews and information, this could prove to be quite the profit maker for you. Getting approved is another thing.

With all affiliate programs, you need to apply with a blog that was not just created yesterday. With everyone wanting to make money with blogging, affiliate programs know that. Always read the requirements that are needed by affiliate programs and apply when your blog is ready. Most affiliate programs check to see that your blog is current with substantial information. Don’t go off track when you monetize your blog. Remember why and what you blog about when you create your affiliate links.

Sometimes it’s really that simple, isn’t it? I feel a little stupid for not thinking of this myself/earlier, though.
