Web Development

When you initially start to get into online marketing and explore the waters a bit, it’s not difficult to feel overwhelmed. You’ve likely already read several articles and forum posts that are full of information on how to be the next “big thing”. The items on these lists probably all appear contradictory. One will say that you should be patient if you wish to be the next big thing. Business savvy is one other claim frequently made by these lists. You’ll also see several that will state that you must be very creative if you desire to succeed. And, of course, you can’t forget about all of the people saying that all you have to do is purchase their software if you want to be the next big name in Internet marketing!

Here’s the facts: All of these things count (okay, maybe not the software program, but the other things). You must have patience, business savvy and creativity if you desire to be successful. Naturally, if you are unable to intelligibly communicate with customers and clients, none of the rest of it will basically matter.

There is more to good communication than publishing a convincing sales copy. You can find a highly competent copywriter to do that for you. There is more to effective communication than constructing a beautiful web site that has an extensive FAQ. A quality web designer and writer can give you those. Being good at communication demands learning to handle interpersonal communication as well as your copy and website. So, what do you need to do that?

1. See to it that any email doesn’t sit unanswered for more than 24 hours. We aren’t jesting with you. You don’t need to write a novel in the body of every last email. All you need to do is let the sender know that you have read the email and will be answering it in more detail soon. Try to include a reference to something the sender has written when you do this. This helps the person emailing you to distinguish your email from the auto responders that everybody else is using.

2. Avoid letting the phone go on ringing. Try not to calls. When your phone starts ringing, pick it up by the third ring. Do this even if you earnestly don’t wish to talk to the person on the other end. There’s one good news about this rule. There’s no need for you to be attached to the phone 24/7. What you should do is have clear business hours during which you will be available to talk on the phone. These business hours should be displayed conspicuously on your site and included in your voice mail message also. And, of course, each person who leaves a message deserves a call back.

3. Make sure that the people you send messages and emails to actually receive those emails. This will indicate to the person that you truly care about keeping in contact with them. It will help your clients and customers trust you more if you actually take the time to ask if they have any questions about your messages so that they can ask you to clear up anything they need clarified.
